84th Congress: The Senate Is Not In Session
November 23, 2025 - The Senate has notified the Nationalist House and President Jay Laylin of our intent to host a Confirmation hearing for DHS Secretary Nominee Jerry Meckler which was scheduled for December 5, 2025. This is part of the Senate's desire to quickly push through his confirmation and send the confirmation to the Senate floor for a vote, which the Senate hopes to be able to complete by the closure of the 84th Congress on December 15.
"We are working tirelessly to get Mr. Meckler confirmed as the next DHS Secretary that will allow him to be sworn in before the December 15 recess of Congress," said Senate Majority Leader Harry Rodham. "We continue to support his nomination and I am completely confident that his nomination will pass the Senate vote. We look forward to quickly confirming Mr. Meckler."
November 23, 2025 - Senate Majority Leader Harry Rodham(R-NS1) said in a statement early this morning that the Senate is proposing increasing Senate term limits to six years, and staggering elections to ensure that only half of the Senate is up for election. The new term limits would begin in 2032 for half of the Senate and would extend the second half of the Senate's terms to six years. A vote is expected to hit the Senate floor later this week as the Senate Rules Committee seeks to ensure that this measure could be implemented.
